Jacksonville

Just got back from Jacksonville this afternoon after seeing the in-laws for a weekend. It was Pete's nephew's (I guess mine, too) third birthday, so we went out for the party. It was fun! No pictures...forgot the camera.

Tornado Sirens

So yesterday (Saturday), I woke up at 7am to tornado sirens going off. They lasted for about an hour, and were mainly by the Air Force base area, so they weren't extremely loud. Still though, I was kind of worried that my town would be hit, but luckily it just passed right over us!

Blue Angels

I went to the Pensacola air museum yesterday, and they had two huge buildings filled with planes. It was really neat, since the one closer to my house is smaller and only has a handful compared. There was a simulation that I did of being in a fighter jet, where you could do barrel rolls and the machine would actually flip you upside-down. It made me really nauseus, but I had fun at the same time! :)

Canoeing

Today Pete and I went canoeing in the ocean. We had wanted a two-person kayak, but when we got to the rental place they were all sold out. The water was only 3-4 feet deep where we were, so you could see the bottom the whole time (we even saw a sting-ray!). The weather was in the high 80's, which was perfect since usually it's over 100 in Florida this time of year (about an hour after we left it started to thunder though!).

Lord of the Rings Monopoly

I got the Lord of the Rings Monopoly game about five years ago from my little brothers. I've only played it once or twice, but last night Pete and I actually sat down to a full game. Of course, he's great with finances and kicked my butt (I can't help but buy all the properties I possibly can). It's actually a pretty cool board, since it comes with game pieces that are the different characters, and there's a version you can play that involves "the ring."

Bikram Yoga

So this morning I went to a session of Bikram Yoga. If you don't know what this type of yoga is (popularly called "hot" yoga), classes are 90 minutes long and in a 105 degree room with 40% humidity. You can imagine that this means that you are sweating at the same time as you are doing the "sun salutation" or "plank" or whatever move the teacher drills you through. Needless to say, it's very relaxing but can make you nauceous if you aren't used to it or ate too big of a breakfast. I used to do it every once in a while in Connecticut, and let's just say that if you do three or four days in a row, you're going to have a hard time staying up past 5am and not also having a huge amount of energy. I'm not sure if it's the amount of exercise or the sauna effect, but I do see some results!

Don't bother reading this part...the page is not posting right.

Soo...I'm getting married in ten days! And about half of my family will be able to make it out to attend, which is very nice of them. I've attached my engagement picture (taken in D.C., with the Capitol Building in the background). This one's not cropped like what we mailed out in the invites, but it's the same concept.

I'm on a break in school (because of the wedding), and I'm going insane with boredom. I love being able to relax, but just the fact that I know in a week I'll have to jump back into the crazy full-time school/full-time work schedule makes me not want to get into anything else (hobby-wise) for now. Since I can't, it's driving me crazy! I want to read a book, start a project, organize all my paperwork... But alas, these are things that take hours, and hours are not what I have right now between spending quality time with my fiance and wrapping up wedding details. I am excited to start class again though, since it's nice to get into a busy routine.
